A Trip

We are getting ready to go back to Georgia for a few days to attend DD1’s graduation, she will be receiving her Master’s Degree and I am very excited and happy for her. She has gone to school every other Saturday for 2 years, while working full time and done an enormous amount of work to graduate. But I hate going back to GA, the humidity is so horrible and I am so allergic to everything there. I have gotten used to opening windows and sitting outside and being able to breathe. I can even sit outside on the patio at a restaurant while in CO, not something I could ever do in GA. In addition, we have to drive so we can take the dogs, Di has to be watched so carefully I cannot leave her in a kennel and she cannot fly. So we rented a minivan and we are going to load in both dogs, all of our traveling junk, and of course some books on tape and knitting and drive all the way back to a state that I hate. I know I will have a good time with my daughter and I am proud of her, so I plan on having fun even if my allergies kick up and I am dripping all day. And my reward is shopping, DD2 and I are going shopping this weekend for cooler clothes, the weather has been so crazy here that I have not put all the winter clothes away and things I can wear in CO in the summertime are not wearable in Atlanta. Good excuse, huh??

Here is a picture of the Wee Tiny Sock I made for Darcy, my swapee. I used Panda Wool by Crystal Palace Yarns and it is so soft and lush, I really am going to have to buy more of it. This is the Red Cinnamon colorway, I hope Darcy likes it.

I am still working on the sweater of many stitches, I figure it will be good for knitting in the car on our trip to GA, and of course the two pairs of socks that I started. I do seem to have startitis right now, cause I am ready to start a baby blanket and a lacy scarf. Oh well, it’s all good, and it keeps me busy.
I hope everyone has a productive day!

Congratulations to DD1! I know how much work this has been for her, especially if she was still working full-time!

I guess there is something about allergies and the south. I chaperoned a trip to Myrtle Beach once when my DD was in high school. I couldn't leave my air conditioned hotel. I couldn't open my eyes at all outside!

I envy you living in Colorado in the summertime, and I empathize with you in visiting the south anytime after the first of May!

After a lovely spring, cooler than normal for us here in northeast Texas, the past two days have been muggy, not terribly hot, but warm enough. I dread summer with a vengeance!

Drink lots of iced-drinks, that helps. Carrying a wet cloth in a plastic bag in your purse helps, too. I do that, and take it out and wipe my face and neck down if I get too hot.

I haven't received the wee sock yet but it is very pretty I love the colorway.Sounds like Georgia would be bad for my allergies.Darcy

Congrats! My daughter is also graduating so we're getting ready for a trip too.

I have terrible allergies and this is the worst year I can remember in the NE. Maybe you've lost your sensitivity to GA allergens. Let's be optimistic.

Congratulations to your daughter and to you since I think we have a big impact on what our children strive to accomplish.

And the sock is too too cute

Our weather in New Jersey has been the weirdest ever, and allergies terrible. I hope things are better in GA. But since you are going for a very happy occasion, maybe the adrenalin will keep your sinuses open.

Have a great trip.

Congrats to DD1. What an achievement. And congrats to you for producing DD1 who has achieved.

Enjoy the trip and maybe the allergic stuff will have moved on out by the time you get there.

Have a great trip, knitting all the way. By the time you get there your scarf will be done and you'll need something for your trip home.

Enjoy basking in your DD accomplishment.

My allergies seem to bother me more up here than they did when I was in Indiana a few weeks ago. I don't understand it, far more things were in bloom when I was there...

^.^ But at least I'm medicated and not suffering too horribly!

Congrats to DD1! I'm sure you'll have fun on your trip despite the humidity. Your tiny sock is cute. BTW, I mentioned your contest in my last blog post.

Congratulations to your daughter and to you too! In a really bizarre way, I detest planning for long driving trips but do enjoy them.
