I am so excited, my swap partner’s yarn came today and it is beautiful, Carrie did a beautiful job on it. I wish I could keep it, but that is not happening, I am only waiting on the book that I ordered for her and my kit will be ready to go. I wonder how much it costs to send a package to Wales. . .

I do not think I will join the next swap; it takes too much time from knitting and other stuff, though it has been a great deal of fun. I wonder how Jenean has time to do this, because she spend a lot of time setting the swap up and putting the Quidditch stuff out for the participants.

I am very tired tonight, my poor kitty, Onyx, kept me awake last night with her crying, she was just spayed and declawed and I have never had a cat cry so much after having this done before. I now feel so bad, that I am carrying her everywhere she wants to go, what a sap I am.

I want to knit today, so this is brief. I give up on looking for the Snitch, who can figure it out? I don’t even know where I am supposed to look to find it. The person I bought the sock yarn for my partner in the swap from is in Gryffindor, Carrie, what a coincidence. The yarn she dyed is beautiful; I cannot wait to touch it.

I am currently working on a dishcloth, and it is very pretty, but I am feeling the urge to do socks. So today, I am going to work on big black socks for SFS and a pair for my daughter. Dinner (shredded pork burritos) is in the crock-pot, so I am off to knit. Have a great weekend!

I am so bad, I have a hard time keeping up with a blog, and I wasn’t sure, when I started if I would be able to, but I am trying. I have ordered my swap partner’s yarn, needles, stitch holders and a few other goodies. I am not quite sure what all to put I the kit, but I am making her a Booga bag, which is almost done. I took the bag with me last night when I went to the FOX Theater to see Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and knitted while waiting for the show to start. I am using the blue and gray colors since those are the only ones I could find near enough to Ravenclaw colors. I hate not have a LYS near me, and I refuse to drive 50 miles in heavy traffic for anything. It is a good thing I like the internet shopping because I would have no clothes if I didn’t, which is a scary thought.

Quidditch starts this week, I have never taken part in this before, and this is my first HSKS swap, so I am anxious to see how it works. Gryffindor is in the lead right now, but that can change quickly.

I have frogged a pair of socks that I am making for my daughter a couple of times now and I am getting very irritated with ??? myself and the pattern. I have been using Knitpicks Dancing on them and they have a climbing rose pattern up both sides and it is a beautiful pattern, but I tend to get lost (or sidetracked) when I am doing it. I may just put them away for a while and start them again when I have more patience (if that ever happens).

I am posting this questionnaire for sock kit swap.
1. What Hogwarts house have you been sorted into?
I am a Gryffindor.
2. List your favorite double-point needle brands, including size and length. Or would you prefer circulars?
I prefer Knitpiccks double pointed, #2
3. Would you like to try a new brand needle? If so, which brand? Size? Length?
I would love to try a new brand, but I hate the Brittainy needles that are very short, I prefer at least 6” DP
4. If you are a RAVENCLAW, do you prefer the colors in the film or the book? Do you have a strong preference?
&&&&
5. Do you have any allergies?
My only allergy is penicillin, so please don’t send me old medicines or moldy bread J

I know who my swap partner is, Sarah Jones, I just do not know her email address. Sarah, if you read this please contact me or leave me a comment.

Yeaaah! My first attempt at felting turned out great I am so pleased, even my very sarcastic youngest daughter was impressed. If only I could figure out how to post a picture of it, so I can post it. I got the pattern from Knitting Daily, Amanda’s Squatty Sidekick and it was great. It knitted up quickly (for me) and it was felted within 10 minutes of hot water in my front loading washing machine. I love this pattern, and will probably do it again, however I would make the strap longer and the bag a little larger.

I am still knitting my BBS for Socks for Soldiers, I am so impressed with Kim, the owner of the group. She has now started a sister group in Canada. I don’t know how she finds the time to do all this, plus knit and take care of her kids.

I am very excited about the Hogwarts sock kit swap, it is not a secret swap, we will know whom we are sending our stuff to and our partner will know who is sending the sock kit to them. I guess sign ups have been relatively slow this time, which I don’t understand as the last book and a new movie come out next month, with all the advertising regarding both, I guess I though more people would be interested. I can’t wait to find out who my partner is so that I can start gathering the stuff for his or her kit. I can’t decide what kind of yarn to put in the kit. Any suggestions????? I have been looking for some nice knitting needles, I love the ebony needles, but with so many people going to the magic loop method of sock knitting, I am not sure what kind to buy. I guess I will have to check with my swap partner to see what they prefer.

My first felting project is going very well, I will probably start felting tomorrow, and I hope it works well since I have a frontloading machine without the old-fashion kind of agitator. I am still working on my BBS for Socks for Soldiers, I hate working on that black yarn but they are sooo necessary. I stopped knitting to read the new Stephanie Plum novel by Janet Evanovich, “Lean Mean Thirteen,” it was so funny.

I need to go check out more sock yarn, I wonder if my sock kit swap partner will be a Slytherin??

Today was supposed to be a day off and I planned to knit all day long to I could work on my BBS, but I had to work which really ticked me off. I am having a hard time with the black yarn, though I bought an Ott Light, it does not seem to help me see the tiny stitches and black yarn at night. I just received some really pretty baby alpaca yarn from ebay at a great price, now I need to decide what I want to do with it. It is so soft and in pastel colors, I fell in love with it, though I did not need it. The stash is growing horribly, it will soon take over my walk in closet. I need to figure out how to organize my knitting supplies and stash.

I am still working on the discloth KAL, but I am doing 2 at a time, it is on size 5 needles so it is not working up as quickly as the others I have done. I find it really irritating when I cannot figure out what it is because the list mom just gives us four lines a day. I don't think I will be figuring this one out. :-)

To the gym I go before my butt spreads any farther. . .

Who am I

So here I go, off to blogging land. I work, I knit, I read and write. this is my first attempt at a blog and probably would not have tried it if it were not for a sock kit swap I want to join which requires a blog. I know I will not be as prolific as other blogs I have read, but i am going to attempt to keep this active and going.
I love to knit, though it makes me sit too long, and I am not coordinated enough to walk and knit as so many others are. I am currently working on my Big Black Socks (BBS) for Socks for Soldiers, a new hat, a purse that will be my first attempt at felting, a face cloth, and a prayer shawl for my sister who is very sick.
I work from home, which is sometimes great and sometimes not so great, but I do not have to battle the traffic to get here ever day, which is a great timesaver and eliminates headaches.
