My Trip

I am in Washington DC along with half of the country who decided to bring their children here. My hotel is okay (even if it is in the middle of nowhere) it takes forever to get anywhere and the nearest Metro is as far away as work is. For as much as I hated the idea of taking this trip, it is turning out okay, and I am having a good time. I actually hailed a cab for the first time in my life the other day and thought I was way cool lolol. I am a grown woman and have never hailed a cab before, what is wrong with this picture? I am going home early tomorrow morning and then I get to pug in my laptop and start working or go into the office, hmmmmm, rough decision. . .

Blather and Friday Fill ins

What a wonderful day! I am healthy and it is my Lieu day! YEAHHHH!

If you remember, we drove to GA because there
was nothing else we could do with Di’s heart condition, couldn’t leave her with a kennel or fly her. In fact, the vet expected her to do better there and I was all prepare to have the guilt trip laid on me about moving her to CO. But. . . she was worse. I had to sit up with her a couple of nights as she could not breath, I finally called our vet (who is great) and he called in another prescription to the local Walgreen’s. The prescription helped her breathing and so we continued our visit. She is now taking 8 pills at night and 7 in the morning. A little extreme, but what else can I do. Now her nose has started peeling and cracking, which looks painful (sort of like my heels in the winter) so my Di is going to the vet next week for another zillion dollar check up. :-) The poor old thing does not realize she is old until she starts playing with Lola and has to stop after a couple of minutes due to her cough.

I wanted to go to Sock Summit, but I did not register in a “timely manner” (a work phrase that I use a lot when chewing someone out politely) so guess what? All the classes I wanted were already gone. I hate it when I procrastinate and miss out on something great! My own fault, but that does not make me feel any better, grrrr. Did any of you get in?

My arm is not hurting, so I am going to go knit for a while. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

3. My favorite health and beauty product is sleep lol, next it is Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion, recommended by the dermatologist.

4. Driving to Georgia is a nice long ride.

6. I can’t remember who was in it; those were the cast of characters in a recent dream and it was very scary.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to knitting and reading, tomorrow my plans include knitting, working in the garden and grilling and Sunday, I want to do the same thing all over again!

Trip Blather

Wow, we made it to Georgia, after 28 hours. We had to stop every two hours to walk the dogs (and us) and we got so tired we ended up punch drunk; but we got here in time for the hooding ceremony on Thursday night. I had time to get the dogs settled, take a shower, and put on clean clothes and we got to the university just in time. I am so proud of my daughter she has worked very hard and had a 3.9 GPA, all while working full time. The graduation ceremony on Saturday was great (and thankfully brief); now she has pneumonia and strep throat, and she is as sick as a dog. I wonder where that phrase came from? What is sick as a dog? And why do we compare people to sick dogs? Just wondering. . .

The weather has been mercifully and unseasonably cool, but I am good with that.:-) We are just vegging now that DD1 is so sick, but that is all I wanted to do anyway. There is really nothing I want to do here but get a facial and knit, so everything is good. I started a pink Cotton Tots baby blanket for a woman at work who just discovered that she is having a girl. I am using the pattern that MajorKnitter used here; but adapting it to the size I wanted. Because of the differences in the yarn, I do not think the different stitches will be as noticeable, but it will be pretty and comfy for the baby, which is what counts. I am also finishing my second sock from the mystery yarn ball. I am dying to see what is in the center of the yarn. lololo

I hope everyone had a great Mother’s Day and a great weekend. I have to be at work on Monday morning, so we plan to leave here on Saturday. See you in the funny papers.

A Sock

I have finished a sock! (Pix will be posted when I get home this evening.) Not the wee tiny sock, but a sock for big-footed DD2, and the best part is that the second sock syndrome did not attack and I have already started the second one. I might point out that thanks to Trek; it took me a little over three hours to get the sock started. She is very compulsive (?) about socks, and self-striping yarn, it must have the stripes in the same place on both socks. Well, that seems like a good idea, until you are working with a mystery yarn ball and have no ideas how much yarn there is or where the striping starts and stops. I cast on for that darn sock a zillion times until I got too sleepy and gave up. Then I got up Sunday morning and started all over again and it still took me three more tries before I got it right. I sent Trek a message thanking her for turning me into an OCD personality (I was never like that before reading her blog) and she laughed at me. Can you imagine, she laughed. . . and the worst part is that big-footed DD2 laughed at me also.

We are picking up the rental car tonight and leaving for Georgia in the morning. We bathed the dogs and got them ready; too bad I haven’t done my laundry or started to pack my stuff. I wonder what knitting projects I should take with me. It’s not as if I do not have tons of projects sitting around waiting for me to have time lololol.

A Trip

We are getting ready to go back to Georgia for a few days to attend DD1’s graduation, she will be receiving her Master’s Degree and I am very excited and happy for her. She has gone to school every other Saturday for 2 years, while working full time and done an enormous amount of work to graduate. But I hate going back to GA, the humidity is so horrible and I am so allergic to everything there. I have gotten used to opening windows and sitting outside and being able to breathe. I can even sit outside on the patio at a restaurant while in CO, not something I could ever do in GA. In addition, we have to drive so we can take the dogs, Di has to be watched so carefully I cannot leave her in a kennel and she cannot fly. So we rented a minivan and we are going to load in both dogs, all of our traveling junk, and of course some books on tape and knitting and drive all the way back to a state that I hate. I know I will have a good time with my daughter and I am proud of her, so I plan on having fun even if my allergies kick up and I am dripping all day. And my reward is shopping, DD2 and I are going shopping this weekend for cooler clothes, the weather has been so crazy here that I have not put all the winter clothes away and things I can wear in CO in the summertime are not wearable in Atlanta. Good excuse, huh??


Here is a picture of the Wee Tiny Sock I made for Darcy, my swapee. I used Panda Wool by Crystal Palace Yarns and it is so soft and lush, I really am going to have to buy more of it. This is the Red Cinnamon colorway, I hope Darcy likes it.

I am still working on the sweater of many stitches, I figure it will be good for knitting in the car on our trip to GA, and of course the two pairs of socks that I started. I do seem to have startitis right now, cause I am ready to start a baby blanket and a lacy scarf. Oh well, it’s all good, and it keeps me busy.
