Cake and Friday Fillins

So Saturday we get to sample wedding cakes for breakfast, doesn’t that sound fun??? I am not sure of the size or anything else, but I know one layer has to be chocolate. This is a picture of the cake she would like, though she wants red roses on top instead of pink. (I don't know where the picture came from so sorry about the photo credit thingy)

I am overwhelmed with the amount of stuff we have to do, but DD2 is very excited and has really stepped up to the plate. She has reserved the rooms, the van is taken care of and she is planning her trip to Europe at the same time. She leaves about 5 days after the wedding so I am grateful that she is handling everything. Saturday afternoon will not be so great tho, we will be at David’s trying on bridesmaid dresses, which will be a most evil form of torture. I will make sure to take valium with me for both of us. lolol

I have been knitting finally, nothing picture, worthy, but it is moving along. The yarn and the needles fell good in my hands and is very relaxing; it makes me wonder why I put it down.

I hope you all have a great weekend.

1. Wouldn't it be easy if I could just speak my responses to emails instead of typing.
2. ___????____ better than ever!
3. I love the taste of creamy chocolate.
4. We live in the living room.
5. The first thing we're going to do is drink heavily.
6. The water faucet is going drip, drip, drip; it is very annoying.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to playing Mafia Wars, tomorrow my plans include sampling wedding cakes, shopping for bridesmaid dresses, and . . . and Sunday, I want to sleeeeep!

Spent and Tired

I am now officially out of spending money, I have been a shopping fool! I cannot believe I have spent so much money, lolol but it was fun. I guess that is what happens when you leave it all to the weekend just before Christmas. :-0 I also made 2 batches of fudge, two dozen cherry cookies, three dozen chocolate oatmeal cookies, two batches of lotion for dry skin and two batches of sugar honey scrub. I am tired now and going to bed!

Have a great new week!

Shopping, a Question, and Friday Fill Ins

I started my Christmas shopping last night, thank goodness for the internet or no one would receive anything from me. lolol. I hate going to the store and shopping for things, especially when I am not sure of what I want. So almost everything is coming from the internet this year, in fact, I cannot think of anything that isn’t. Saving time, frustration, money, and gas!

I was doing the Friday Fill-in thingy and number five got me to thinking. You know how panhandlers will stand at the highway off ramps and busy intersections collecting money with little signs saying, “I am desperate” or “I am broke”. I always wonder how you can tell which of those people are truly desperate and which of them just make their living that way. I always feel guilty for not giving them money, but at the same time, I feel like I work hard, and I do not want to give money away to someone who doesn’t want to get a job (I don’t mean someone who cannot get a job). I always feel guilty if I do not give them money, but my husband always tells me that they make more money than I do, but can that be the case with everyone who stands on a corner asking for money? So my question to you my bloggy friends is how do you decide which people to give to or do you at all?

ffi
1. You get cookies for Christmas.
2. I find that it is best to get right to the point.
3. It's holiday time.
4. Life is often ridiculous!
5. I feel more blessed when I read about others who are not.
6. I’m done...goodnight!
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to making dinner, grocery shopping, tomorrow my plans include going to the movies, cooking, and knitting and Sunday, I want to decorate the tree and veg!

Clarification, Contest and Late

You know, I reread my comment on shopping on Black Friday, and I think I should restate my position as it sounds very harsh. I have no problem with people who shop on the holiday weekend, if that is how they want to spend their time, what I have a problem with is people who are so crazy for a deal that they can trample a man to death. I know that many people agreed with me about shopping, however I bet there were a lot more who disagreed. Another problem is how the retailers feed the frenzy, they make people feel that they have to get it on Black Friday or they will not be able to afford whatever it is they are trying to purchase, which is crazy, because in many instances the same item goes on sale three more times before Christmas. Anyway, I just wanted to say that my problem isn’t with people who shop (though how anyone could stand the crowds for a “deal” is beyond me), but with the frenzy and the mania around the shopping.

The contest winners are (drum roll please. . . ) For the most entries, Marie is the winner, even tho she said she did not enter, simply because she took part and had the most entries. Thank you Marie. In the random drawing, the winners are CraftyChick 128 and Turtle. Please send me your addresses to georgi dot wellington at gmail dot com and I will be mailing the stuff out this weekend. I will have pictures as I mail. Thank you to everyone who participated, I enjoyed reading your comments throughout the contest. :-)

Well, for the post a day (National Blog Posting Month), I only did 22 out of a possible 30, which is much better than I normally do, but not posting every day. Nevertheless, when I have to resort to drivel, I figure no one wants to read it anyway. I am going to attempt to keep up the momentum, I know that I hate it when I go to someone’s blog that I love to read and the posting is not up to date, you know, those people who blog once a month, but what they write is great to read. Very disappointing.

I was late for work today because of the pretty(and cold)snow. I walked out to my car this morning and found a huge pile of snow in the shape of a car. It snowed all day yesterday and my car decided to let the snow sit on it so it was in camouflage. I battled my way to the car, started it, grabbbed the scraper/brush and started brushing it clear. It took me forever, I had no gloves or boots on and I became very cold very quickly. The snow was up to the knees of my pants and I sure wish I could park in the garage. I think I will be buying gloves and boots this weekend! Brrrrrrrrr

Have a wonderful day!

This and That

I am sorry the last couple of posts have been so lame, but this has been a very busy holiday here. I cooked a huge turkey with all the fixings that turned out well. I have been knitting children’s caps like crazy for Marilyn who needs them for Extreme Outreach. I have three done (pix tomorrow) and another one on the needles, but I want to mail them Monday so I have been rushing. If you go to her blog maker sure and wishe her a happy birthday :-)

It snowed here last night and it was so pretty, I am sure I will be tired of it by the end of January, but for now it is still a novelty to us and we are loving it. The views below are from my living room windows.

MY Diatribe-
How many of you actually went shopping this weekend? Did you participate in “Black Friday”? What is wrong with the world that people have to trample another person to get the best deal on a new toy or television? What is so important that people cannot behave in an orderly manner to purchase the item? I don’t get it. My policy is to avoid the stores on this weekend of the year; the deals will normally get better as we get nearer to Christmas, especially since Christmas is on a Thursday this year. I would think that in this year of so much economic distress people would be kinder and gentler to one another instead of trampling someone to get into a store. The season is not supposed to be for the amount and value of the gifts received but what we can give. I think this is a very sad weekend.

Accomplishments

I finally have accomplished what I listed in my Fridays Fill-ins for the weekend (a first for me). Friday night we went out for sushi to celebrate my daughter’s new job (she is very lucky; she quit one job because she did not like certain aspects of it and had a new one a week later). On Saturday we hit Linen ‘N Things for drapes and miscellaneous items (they are closing so everything is on sale), picked up groceries, cooked dinner, and I made time to knit (the beanie I started for SFS is done, I just have to weave in the ends, pix tomorrow). And on Sunday the new drapes were hung, my room was cleaned, and I had time to knit which is always a good thing.

I also got a box packed for Socks for Soldiers that I will be able to mail off tomorrow, after I get the ends weaved in on the cap. I was able to find the individual packs of peanut butter, they are sometimes hard to find or too expensive for my budget. I also saved all the shampoo, conditioner, and lotion bottles from when we stayed in the hotel and packed those.

Isn’t life good?

I just found a contest on Nautical Knitter, its very easy, vote, post, and comment. Go here to enter.
