Thankful Thursday

I think this Thankful Thursday is a wonderful idea, it reminds us to be grateful for what we have instead moaning about what we do not have. So here is my list for this week-
I am thankful for my internet friends. This would have been a hard few months without them.
I am thankful that my daughters and I will be together for Thanksgiving because we always have fun together.
I am thankful that the weather has warmed up from last week and that the snow is almost gone.
I am thankful for my rotten cats that are so funny and make me laugh.
I am thankful for the coordinators who work with me and their patience, as I am perennially late.
It doesn’t seem like much, but every little bit helps. :-)

Now I can whine, right? You knew I had to; I haven’t for a couple of days. My eyes are not as icky now, but they are almost swollen shut and they hurt to touch. It wasn’t bad enough that I had to throw all the makeup away, my eyes are so swollen it looks like I am walking around with my eye shut, not a pretty thing in this very round face of mine. lolol

I am responsible for holding a quarterly conference call and it was scheduled for today, I of course could not see so had called in sick. I woke up about 5 minutes before the call and had to dash around setting up my work computer and putting my cell phone on the charger so I could call in. I finally got on the phone about 5 minutes late and had to apologize to 31 people who were waiting for me. It was embarrassing.

Icky Eyes

I woke up nice and early this morning because I knew it would take forever to clean my car off, it had not moved since the snow started. I opened my eyes and oooppps! Both of them were stuck, yuk. (It was very nice of me not to include a picture this time, don't you think?) I slowly pried them apart, sat up, and realized nothing was being accomplished today as my head was spinning too. I did get a doctor’s appointment so I now have many antibiotics and eye drops to use. It’s very irritating, I hate being sick, but like I told a friend at least I was able to get out of bed and take care of business, it sure beats the alternatives. The good news is that now I have a reason to buy new eye make-up, as it all must be replaced, behind every cloud is a silver lining. I think I will go home tonight, get in bed and knit. I can either work on the beret to go with the scarf shown yesterday or continue to work on the striped scarf for DD2.

Today Sucks

I am still cleaning up the mess, I cannot believe how sick she is this time (no, it is not the first time.) I think DD2 is going to spend the weekend cleaning all of the carpeting after SHE rents a carpet cleaner.

My wonderful daughter left the gate open to the kitchen when she left for work today (this is my lieu day) while I was getting my car worked on. This of course, means that Di (yes, the sick dog) helped herself to whatever she could get in the kitchen. She is very tall when she stands on her back legs,(which are full of arthritis so who thought she could?), so she happened to help herself to chocolate candy. It wasn't enough to poison her, but it has made her verrrrry sick all over all of the carpet. So far 17 spots are being worked on, and I am still going. It was bad enough that I had to spend $400 on getting a sick car repaired, now I get to spend the rest of my lieu day cleaning chocolate off of the carpet. Somedays it isn't worth getting out of bed. . . .

Blah, Blah, Blah

I am already too late for Posting every day for the month of November, National Blog Posting Month, but I guess if I start late and keep on doing it every day, it is better than nothing.

I was reading the Skipper’s blog and I love stories about living aboard a boat, though I have so much stuff I do not know if I could do it. I am still trying to fit it all into my town house and it is not working well. My office area is just about done, we are debating book cases, but I do not want to make the space too tight as it is in a loft area. My husband knows I can retire in 4 years if I want to (the benefits if sticking with low paying government jobs) but the boat is nowhere near ready for us to live on, in fact, the last time I saw it, all I could do was laugh. I told him he better get his butt in gear or I was buying a condo on a lake when I retire, then he planned a trip to Ireland for next May, which is prime boat working time.

I have a sinus infection, the air here in CO is so dry, and my nose burns when I can breathe through it (which doesn’t happen that often anyway)lololol. I don’t mind the sinus infection, it is not terrible, but it has affected my ears and balance. So I am sitting here typing feeling like I am falling out of my chair, very hard to hold on and type at the same time. I am still knitting, but it is very slow, since I have a hard time counting since I am dizzy. I have dropped all smaller projects and moved to size 13 needles for a scarf just so I can work without losing track of what I am doing.
