Whining and Friday Fillins

I am tired, tired, tired. Work should be banned, I still have a few more days of over time to go and I will be done for a few days. Tonight I am going to go home, get a sandwich, go to bed, put on a bok on tape, and start a new something or other on the needles.

DD1 is moving to Illinois in October, she got a great job with the feds and she will be moving next month. She worked for 6 months with applications and resumes to get a federal job, and she found a good one. I am proud of her for persevering, though I know she got discouraged. I asked her if she needed help, but she says she does not, so. . . But since she is moving from GA to IL she needs winter stuff, (I don’t think she realizes how cold it gets there) that means scarves, hats, gloves, and socks for her. lolol

DD2 is sloooowly recovering, I don’t think she has ever been this ill, she is so miserable, she is sleeping a lot. She has missed an entire week of classes and I know that is going to make the next few week miserable for her.

I hope you have a good weekend!

ffi
1. One week ago the weather was much warmer than it is today.
2. I learned to tap dance when I was young (but sure cannot do it now).
3. Mama told me to always wear clean underwear (without holes).
4. ____???_____ you and me.
5. Take your time, life goes on.
6. And this too will pass!
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to vegging, tomorrow my plans include working 12 hours and Sunday, I want to play but will be working!

Today Does Not Suck!

Well, the carpet is clean and Di is feeling much better. I felt so so sorry for her, she was very sick and she was afraid she was going to get into trouble; Di is such a good dog. My daughter came home with a carpet cleaner Friday night and cleaned the entire mess. I tried doing the hand thing, but Di was having more incidents than I could keep up with (I quit counting after 30 spots). She finally started feeling better (and quit having “incidents”) Saturday morning. Now life can go on. lolololol

I received some great stuff in the mail Saturday; first, I received the Traveling Charity Blanket from the Whodunit group so I can add my four inches of knitting to it. I am using a pastel baby green (this blanket is all pastels another group is using primary colors) and I haven’t quite decided what type of stitch to use, though I am leaning towards a basket stitch. You can see in the picture how pretty Jane’s and Danielle’s portion is, so I have a ways to go to keep it as nice as theirs is. When the blanket has made the rounds, it will be donated to charity, I think there are 4 blankets going the rounds now, one is only crochet, 2 are knitted, and one is a combination. In the package there were also tea, chocolate and stitch markers. Isn't it fun to get good stuff? :-) Now I have to figure out something great to add to the package for the remaining knitters.

I also received
some yarn and a CD from Rita from a contest she held. The yarn is Knit Picks Wool of the Andes and it is a beautiful color, Hyacinth, it is gorgeous. The CD is a signed copy of the Last Train Home, Live at the Iota; I wasn’t sure how I would like it, but it is great. Thank you Rita!

I notice that my last few posts are a lot of grousing, I hate that. A friend told me it was simply my hormones acting my age (I will be 53 next month.) The funny thing is, this is the first year having a birthday is not depressing to me; it doesn’t bother me so why is it bothering my freaking hormones? I guess it is partially the Big M, (ya think?). I will try to keep the whining and grousing to a minimum in the future, I know it is not pleasant to read and it is not anyone else’s fault that I am having hormone issues.

I have been knitting, very little as Di need so much attention, but I am back to it today!

I hope you are having a great weekend!

Grousing

Doesn’t grousing sound so much better than whining? Because that’s really what I am doing. This week I have to take a class call “Federal Law Appropriations” and the class is just as interesting as it sounds. I have a hard time sitting still, and the instructor objects to students doing other things while he is talking, so that means no texting, no computer and no knitting. So I wiggle and I eat, neither is a good thing as they both bother my neighbor. I am not sure if I will last the week and if I do, I will have gained 10 pounds. lololol

It started snowing today, and it is very cold. I was sitting outside enjoying the outdoors (we were on a 10 minute break) when it started and I just sat there and enjoyed the scene. So wonderful to look at, but so bad to drive in.

I am knitting though. I started some little purses (medicine bages) for a kid’s camp. This camp caters to children who are suffering from cancer and their sibs. The project is to let the kids know that people care. I want to get three of them done to submit within the next month, the hardest part is going to be finding the charms to put in them. If you are interested in helping go here, I think Shelly is having a hard time gathering participants, so help will be appreciated.

Whining

I am a little irritated today. Today is my telecommute day, which would have been great since it was so cold; however, I came into the office for a meeting in with a person from DC. Now it appears as though she is not going to show, though it may be due to the weather, who knows. I could be in my jammies at home taking a nap for lunch instead of sitting here snuffling. I hate it when things interrupt my telecommute day, almost as much as when they interrupt my lieu day. I am going to lunch. . . .

Later
I am still working on the black scarf with the lace diamond chain; the yarn is not as bad as I expected it to be, so that is a good thing. I have a feeling it will take me a while to finish, just because I am tired at night lately. It is probably the time of year, dark and gloomy night is going to make a person tired sooner I guess. I am also working on the Dr Who scarf, but it is sooooo boring. DD2 is so lucky that I love her. :-)

Remember here when I complained about the warm weather (not actual complaining, that is what today’s post is for) well I should have kept quiet because yesterday’s high was 16˚ and today’s is supposed to be 23˚, it was 3˚ when I left for work this morning. Those numbers just shouldn’t be on the thermometer because it is too cold to breath. I have had to close my bedroom window finally; it is just too cold to have it open even a little bit. This morning I had on snow boots, a coat, and gloves; and I needed long johns too (and a nose cover too, my nose is burning from breathing the cold air.) My poor car is very unhappy with the morning cold.

I am done whining and complaining for now. I am going to go home, plop my butt in the chair, and knit until I fall asleep.

Have a happy and productive day!

Still Knitting and Whining

I have been beavering away on my sweater, but as I said, it takes longer to make a sweater for a fat person than a thin one. You would think that it would encourage me to lose weight, but I do love eating. :-) The sweater is looking good, the stitches seem even and smooth and no giant boo boos are appearing. I do think that I will knit the front and back together on the next one and do away with the side seams. It is now time for me to start the top portion, which is on a chart. I have never worked on a chart before so I am a little bit nervous about it. I think I may go ahead and cast on for the front before I start the lace on the top of the back. What a boob (or is it a chicken?). If any of you have any suggestions I would appreciate it.

I am still in a hotel and I am getting ???? (do not know what word to use). Yes, I am whining again. This is not the hardest thing in the world, at least we have a roof over our heads and everyone is healthy, but it is so small and privacy is a thing of the past. We move on the 21st of August and we are all getting very anxious. I think I just need to count my blessings instead of whining so much.

Contests
I found some contests that look like fun. First there is Addicted to Knitting, whose contest is about family traditions, do you like them or buck them. Some of the comments are hilarious, and you can enter here. If you do decide to enter, please let them know that I sent you.

Knitting and Sewing and all Forms of Procrastination has a contest and all you have to do is leave a comment about yourself. Very easy and fun, you can enter here. If you do decide to enter, please let them know that I sent you.

Finally there is Knit and Purr’s contest which takes a little more effort but is still fun. All you have to do is guess the number of pets she has and their names, but she is giving away some great yarn. She says “Lisa Souza Sock!, Dashing Dachs, Lorna's Laces, and maybe some Wollmeise
- maybe. I may even give choices." You can’t get any better than that. You can enter here. And as always, please let her know I sent you.
